Low-FODMAP
A Low-FODMAP diet is a diet that eliminates certain sugars (short-chain carbohydrates) that can cause intestinal distress. It is an elimination diet that is often prescribed for people suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). When people follow a strict Low-FODMAP diet, they eliminate all foods containing FODMAPs. With the help of a nutritionist, many people are able to determine which FODMAPs they are particularly sensitive, and they might be able to incorporate small amounts of the other FODMAPs into their regular diet.
On this site, many recipes that are labeled as Low-FODMAP might not be suitable for someone following a strict Low-FODMAP diet. As always, please consult with your physician and/or nutritionist before embarking on dietary changes.
